Deaf Awareness Training

Do you work in public services?  Do you want to learn more about deaf people and how they communicate?  Do you want high quality training delivered in your workplace?  Then we are the people for you!

Taught over a day or in two half days, our unique ‘Four in One’ solution training combines the subjects of Deaf Awareness, Technical Aids, Communication Tactics and British Sign Language, including:
  • A brief introduction to deaf and deafblind people, including Deaf culture
  • Lip-reading skills
  • Some basic British Sign Language
  • Some basic Deafblind sign language
  • Communication tactics
  • Gesture and mime skills
  • Technical/Human aids
  • Facial Expressions
  • Understanding Deaf English
  • Empathy Issues
  • The Disability Discrimination Act and Disability Equality Scheme
Each learner will be given a certificate and training booklet.

We can tailor our training courses to match your requirements, running as many courses as you want at any time of day.  We are only allowed to teach up to 14 people in a group, so if you think you will need training for more than 14 people, let us know.

You can choose one of the course options below:
  • A full day non-accredited training course (six hours) or two half-day training courses (two three-hourly sessions), costing £499 (+VAT) per group. (For corporate company, costing £599 (+VAT) per group.)

  • A two-day CACDP accredited training course resulting in the Level 1 Certificate in Developing Awareness and Communication with Deaf and Deafblind People. Each day involves six hours' training. This costs £999 (+VAT) per group, plus an exam fee of £40 per person.

Please be aware that travel and accommodation expenses are separate.
