Deaf Awareness & Communication Tactics vs Disability Equality Training

Some public services rely on Disability Equality Training (DET) for their employees, as it is straightforward and has the potential to save costs and time. This is an incomplete way to learn, as it will include very limited information on deaf awareness and communication tactics. Staff can talk to most disabled people and create contact easily. This is definitely not the case with deaf members of the public.

Disability Equality Training Course

Disability Equality Training chart

The chart above shows the variety of disabilities that are covered in an all-day DET course. Communication with people who have 83% of the disabilities listed above is straightforward. Only a limited amount of time will be spent learning how to communicate with deaf people, missing vital elements.

Deaf Awareness Training Course

Deaf awareness training chart

The chart above shows how deaf awareness training will help you to communicate confidently with a variety of deaf people; by gaining skills in lipreading, gesture, mime, facial expression and more. This will enable you and your staff to do a better job when you come into contact with deaf people. Don't miss the essential elements of communication that deaf people rely on - undertake our training.
